Frequently asked questions

We have several party packages, with optional extras you can add on. Prices vary with the length of the party, the number of children, the characters you choose and where you are.

Rather than quote a headline figure that turns out not to apply to you, we’d rather give you a real price for your actual party. Get in touch or message us on WhatsApp and we’ll come back to you quickly.

Schools, nurseries, seasonal visits and corporate events are all quoted individually too, just ask.

A 50% deposit secures your booking and your date. We usually take this by bank transfer.

The remaining balance is due before your performer arrives, or on the day. Your booking is confirmed once we’ve received your deposit or full payment.

If you cancel more than 24 hours before your party, you forfeit your 50% deposit.

If you cancel within 24 hours of the party, the full cost of the party is payable.

We understand that life happens. In cases of severe weather, illness or genuine emergency, we’ll waive the balance and only the deposit is retained. If in doubt, talk to us: we’d always rather find a new date than lose you entirely.

Send us a WhatsApp message, give us a ring or drop us an email, telling us your date, rough guest numbers and who you’d like.

We’ll confirm availability and price, and once you’re happy we’ll send everything over so you can pay your deposit and secure the date.

Yes. We have our own venue in Birkenhead where you can celebrate, or we can come to you: a church hall, a soft play centre, a cafe, your home or your garden.

Whichever you choose, we bring everything the entertainer needs with them.

We’re a Wirral-based company, but we often travel to parties in Liverpool, Chester, North Wales and sometimes even further.

Parties beyond the Wirral may incur a travel fee. Tell us where you are when you enquire and we’ll confirm any travel cost upfront, with no surprises on the day.

Absolutely. We just ask for as much notice as possible so we can plan for it.

We’d also strongly recommend having an indoor backup location in mind. British weather has ruined better plans than ours, and a wet park is no fun for anyone.

Yes. We do not discriminate at Wish upon a Party. Our princess parties and superhero parties are for all children, regardless of age, gender, race or disability.

If any of your guests have additional needs, allergies or anything else we should know about, please tell us at least 24 hours before the party so we can plan properly and make sure everybody can join in.

Our venue is at 42-44 Argyle Street in Birkenhead, and we opened it in 2022.

It’s a dedicated children’s party space, which means it’s set up properly for parties rather than being a room that happens to be free. We decorate it to your theme, we set up before you arrive and we clear down afterwards.

Not for a private party, no. Our venue is used for our own parties and events, so the room isn’t available to hire on its own for a celebration.

If you’d like to hold your party with us, that’s our venue parties package: we set up, run the entertainment and clear down afterwards. And if you’d rather celebrate somewhere else, we’ll happily come to you.

During the week the room is available to businesses, tutors and community groups for workshops, toddler sessions, craft classes and other family-focused activities. See our venue hire page.

Latecomers are very welcome to join in with whatever’s happening at the time.

We do work to a schedule, and a performer often has one party straight after another, so we’re not able to delay the start or run over. Starting on time is the fairest thing for the guests who arrived promptly.

We’d like to be transparent about this: we are entertainers, not childcare.

The host or parent remains responsible at all times for the general supervision of children at the party, including behaviour and making sure children only leave with their own parent or guardian.

Our performers who deliver parties on their own are DBS checked.

Photographs our own team takes remain our property and we may use them for promotion. If you’d prefer we didn’t use pictures featuring your child, just say so: we’ll note it on your booking and that’s the end of it.

A few small things make a real difference:

• Keep your phone to hand on the day in case your performer needs to reach you
• Have a clear, clean space ready for them to perform in
• Set out chairs or a table if you’ve booked face painting or crafts
• Keep the children away from the entrance so the character’s arrival is a surprise
• Ask guests not to go into the performer’s bags: there are surprises in there
• Supervise the children, and enjoy it
• Take lots of photos

We use TAG brand face paints, which are professional-grade and skin-kind.

So that every child gets a turn within the time booked, we suggest simpler designs and we’re not able to redo a face once it’s done. If a child has sensitive skin or an allergy, please let us know in advance.

Glitter tattoos can last up to a week, and we use biodegradable glitter wherever possible.

Balloon modelling is one balloon per child, so that everybody gets one.
